Privacy policy
Collar & Clipboard (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website and online shop, which sells downloadable, printable tools for pet owners and veterinary professionals. This policy explains what information we handle when you visit the site or buy something from us, why we handle it, and how you can reach us about it.
Effective date / last updated: September 20, 2026
It is short, and it is what we actually do.
1. The short version
- We ask you for nothing but the email address needed to deliver your files.
- Your card payment is handled entirely on our payment provider’s own checkout page. We never see or store your full card number.
- Our website analytics is first-party, stays in our own database, sets no cookies, and records no IP address.
- We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any third-party tracking or advertising service.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
2. Buying something: what you give us
There is no account and no login on this site. You are not asked to fill in a form here to buy.
When you buy, you are taken to a secure checkout page hosted by our payment provider, Stripe. On that page you give Stripe your email address and your payment details, and Stripe sends you a receipt.
To deliver what you bought and to help if something goes wrong, we receive and keep a small amount of order information:
- The email address you paid with. We use it to send you your receipt and your download link, and to answer you if you reply. This address is what arrives with the order we see in our payment provider’s records.
- What you bought and when. The product, the amount, the currency, the order date, and the payment provider’s own reference for the checkout session. We need this to know which files to send you and to sort out a problem with an order.
- Whatever you choose to tell us. If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you write in it.
We do not ask for and do not want your phone number, your postal address, your pet’s medical records, or any health information about you. If you send us personal details we did not ask for, we will use them only to answer you.
3. Payments: what we do and do not see
Payments are processed by Stripe, on Stripe’s own hosted checkout pages. The buy buttons on this site are links to those pages.
- Your full card number, card expiry date and security code are entered on Stripe’s page and go to Stripe. We do not receive them, and we do not store them anywhere.
- Stripe handles your payment information as an independent payment provider, under Stripe’s own privacy policy and terms — not this one.
- We do not collect a card number, a bank account number, or a payment password at any point.
- Nothing on this site is set up to take a payment itself.
4. Website analytics: what we measure, and what we do not
We use a small, first-party analytics tool that we built ourselves. It records three kinds of event into a database we control:
- pageview — a page was viewed;
- buy_click — a buy button was clicked;
- purchase_completed — a purchase completed in Stripe.
For those events we store:
- the event type and the date and time (recorded by our server, not by your device);
- the page path you viewed, and the product it relates to where the page is a product page or a buy click;
- the hostname the page was served from (for example
collarandclipboard.ctonew.app) — a hostname, never an IP address; - the address of the referring page or link that brought you here, when your browser sends one;
- the five campaign parameters if the link you arrived on contained them (
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_term,utm_content); - for a completed purchase only: which product, the amount and currency, and the payment provider’s checkout reference;
- a random visitor id (see below).
The visitor id is random. It is a string of random characters that your own browser generates and keeps in its own local storage on your device. It is not your name, your email, your account, or anything derived from you or your device, and we do not connect it to a person. It exists so that a visit can be counted as one visit and so that we can tell which product a sale came from.
The site sets no cookies at all. The visitor id is not a cookie. We also do not use any of the following:
- no IP addresses are recorded or stored by our analytics;
- no user-agent string, device model, operating system or browser fingerprint;
- no cross-site tracking, no advertising or remarketing networks, no data brokers;
- no session recording, heat-mapping or screen-replay tools;
- no third-party analytics or tag managers — specifically, no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no Meta/Facebook pixel, no TikTok pixel, no Hotjar, no Microsoft Clarity, no Mixpanel, no Segment, no Amplitude, no advertising pixels of any kind. We checked the whole codebase: the only outside services this site talks to are Stripe (for checkout) and our hosting platform.
The connection between a visit and a purchase. When you click a buy button, our page adds that same random visitor id to the address of the Stripe checkout link as a reference. If the purchase completes, Stripe passes that reference back to us, so we can see that “this sale came from this visit.” That reference is only the random id — it contains no name, no email address and no payment detail. If you would rather it did not happen, see section 8.
Our analytics is not public. It is readable only through a private page that requires a secret token we hold, so the numbers are visible to us and not to anyone else. We use the numbers to understand which pages and products people look at, and nothing else. We do not send marketing email and we do not currently use a bulk-email or marketing-automation service.
Turning analytics off does not break anything. If your browser blocks local storage, or you clear site data, or you block these requests, the site keeps working normally and you can still buy and download your files.
5. Delivering your files
Your PDFs are delivered as a download link that we build and send you by email. The link is signed with a secret key we hold, and it expires (our links are set to 30 days by default).
The link itself contains no personal information about you. It carries only:
- which product it unlocks;
- the payment provider’s reference for the order (or, for a manual order, a short order note);
- the date and time it expires.
Anyone who holds the link can use it while it is valid, so please treat it like your receipt: if you share it, others can download the same files. If your link expires, reply to your receipt email or write to us and we will send you a fresh one.
6. How we use information, and why
| What we use | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To send your receipt and download link, and to answer you if you write to us |
| Order details (product, amount, currency, order date, provider reference) | To deliver what you bought, to give support, and to keep an accurate record of sales |
| Support emails you send us | To help you with an order, a download or a file, and to answer questions before you buy |
| First-party analytics (see section 4) | To understand how the site is used and which products people are interested in |
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose beyond the ones listed above.
7. Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we never have.
We share information only with the service providers that make the shop work:
- Stripe — our payment provider. Stripe processes your payment and sends your receipt. We share your order with Stripe in the sense that the order exists in Stripe; we do not send Stripe anything about you beyond what you entered there yourself, apart from the random visit reference described in section 4.
- Our website hosting platform — it serves this site and runs the small amount of server code behind it, and its managed database service stores our analytics records. These records contain no names and no email addresses.
- Google (Gmail) — our support inbox is a Gmail account, so support emails you send to collarandclipboard@gmail.com are stored and handled by Google’s email service under Google’s own terms.
These providers handle data on their own accounts and under their own privacy policies. If we ever add a new provider — for example a dedicated service to email download links automatically — we will update this policy to say so.
We will also disclose information if we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect someone’s rights or safety. Given the tiny amount of information we hold, this is unlikely to involve anything beyond an order record.
8. Your choices and your rights
- Ask us anything. Write to collarandclipboard@gmail.com and ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will answer honestly, and we will do what we reasonably can.
- One honest limitation: because our analytics records are keyed to a random id rather than to your name or email, we may not be able to find records that came from you unless you can tell us something that identifies them — an order reference, or the random visitor id stored by your browser for this site. We will always tell you what we can and cannot do rather than guess.
- Stop the analytics. Clear the site data in your browser, or use a private window, or set your browser to block storage for this site. The shop works exactly the same, and the only effect is that we cannot count your visit or connect a purchase to it.
- Unsubscribe from nothing, because there is nothing to unsubscribe from. We only email you about an order you placed or a message you sent. We send no newsletters and no marketing email. If you ever receive something from us you did not expect, reply to it and tell us.
Some readers live in places whose privacy laws give them specific additional rights over their personal information. We do not claim that any particular law governs this shop or that we meet the requirements of any specific law, but if you live somewhere with those protections and you want to exercise a right you have, write to us at collarandclipboard@gmail.com and we will help as far as we can, and tell you plainly if we cannot.
9. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy.
- Order records and the emails you send us are kept in the payment provider’s records and in our support inbox so that we can help you later and keep an accurate record of sales.
- Analytics records (page views, buy clicks and completed-purchase rows, as listed in section 4) are kept in our database so that we can compare one period with another. We currently have no automatic deletion schedule for these rows, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. If we set a fixed retention period later, we will say so here and the date at the top of this page will change.
- Download links expire on their own, as described in section 5.
If you want information about you deleted, ask us (section 8).
10. Security
We keep things simple on purpose, and the security measures are modest and real:
- The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Card payments happen on our payment provider’s own system, so card details never touch our site or our code.
- Our database connection is encrypted, and the only data in it is the analytics described above — no names, no email addresses and no payment details.
- Download links are cryptographically signed and time-limited, so links cannot be guessed or edited into working links for other products.
- Access to our analytics and to the database is protected by secret keys held by us, not by the public.
- Access to customer orders and emails is limited to the person running the shop.
No method of sending or storing information over the internet is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. We do not hold the kind of information that makes a breach dramatic — we hold an email address and a record of what someone bought — and we still take it seriously.
11. Children
Our products are made for adults: pet owners and veterinary professionals. This site is not directed at children and is not intended for them. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email collarandclipboard@gmail.com and we will delete it.
12. Links to other sites
When you buy, the button takes you to Stripe’s checkout, which is a different company’s system governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy. Our policy stops at the edge of our own site. If we ever link to other sites, their privacy practices are theirs, not ours.
13. Changes to this policy
If what we do changes, this policy changes with it. The effective date at the top of this page tells you when it was last updated. If we ever start doing something materially different with personal information — for example, adding a new provider or a new kind of data — we will say so clearly on this page.
14. Contact us
Questions about this policy, about an order, or about information we may hold:
A person reads that inbox. Write to it and you will get an answer.
Collar & Clipboard sells educational and organizational tools — trackers, logs, checklists and journals — for pet owners and veterinary professionals. Nothing we sell diagnoses or treats a condition, and nothing we sell is medical advice for you or for your pet.
